Detailed Analysis
At first glance, many people are likely to assume that these emailed images of a gigantic Great Dane are the result of digital tomfoolery. However, the images are in fact genuine photographs and George, the massive canine featured in the images, is a real, living and breathing animal.

George was featured in an article published on the UK's Daily Mail Online in December 2009. The article notes:
The gentle giant, who measures 7ft 3ins from nose to tail, could be a prime contender to take the title from the former record holder, Gibson, a harlequin Great Dane who passed away from cancer last August. Now George's owners, David and Christine Nasser, are awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records to see if he has achieved the lofty heights.
The photographs, along with the text in the email forward were apparently taken from this Daily Mail article. Giant George was also featured in an October 2009 Fox News article and on a large number of other news sites, blogs and online communities.

And George even has his own website, along with a Twitter account and a Facebook page that boasts well over 8000 fans.

According to George's website, an official measurement procedure took place in October 2009 "to confirm George's status as tallest dog in the world". At the time of writing, George is apparently waiting for final confirmation of his "tallest dog" status from Guinness World Records.

George has starred in several YouTube videos, including the one below:

George is not the only dog that has become something of an Internet sensation in recent years. Photographs of Wendy, an extremely muscular bully whippet, have circulated via email and the Internet since 2007.
