According to this message, which is currently circulating on Facebook, you can help save the life of an abandoned dog just by liking and sharing his photograph on the network. The message claims that Facebook's Mark Zuckerburg along with the "StopAnimalAbuseCampaign" have agreed to donate $1 for every five "likes" that the picture receives. Supposedly, the dog will be put to sleep by the animal hospital caring for him if the "like" campaign does not quickly raise money for his treatment.
However the claims in the message are utter nonsense. Liking or sharing the photograph will do nothing whatsoever to help this animal. The message is just one more sorry incarnation in a long series of disgusting hoaxes that claim that you can help a sick child or animal just by liking or sharing a message. All such hoaxes make the absurd claim that Facebook or another company will donate money based on how many times a message or picture is shared or liked.
The immoral swine - fittingly known as "like-whores"- who create such hoaxes do so for no other reason than to collect likes. Please do not play into the hands of these people by liking or sharing their material. Instead, report the image to Facebook. Please do NOT comment on the photo or the wall where the photo has been posted, as this gives the hoax more unwarranted exposure because it puts the offending photo on to the news feeds/tickers of your Facebook friends.
