Message circulating via social media asks users to spread the word about missing fifteen year old Ellie May Ashley.



Analysis
The case described is real, but thankfully Ellie May has now been found and is safe. A local news report indicates that Ellie May Ashley went missing from Annesley, Nottinghamshire, on July 12, 2012 and that there were increasing concerns for her safety.

However, an appeal update on the Nottinghamshire Police website notes:

Missing 15-year-old girl found

Updated on 15th July 2012

A 15-year-old girl who had been missing since Thursday (12 July 2012) has been found.

Ellie Mae Ashley was located safe and well.

Thus, there is no longer any reason to repost this missing person message. If you receive this message, please take a moment to let the sender know that the girl has now been found.
