Kate Curry Missing Child Alert - Kate Has Now Been Found

Issue 147 Start Menu

Previous Article            Next Article

Outline
Message circulating rapidly on Facebook asks users to share a photo of missing 13 year old Kate Curry in the hope that someone has information on her whereabouts.

Analysis
Young Kate really was missing, but, thankfully, reliable reports indicate that she has now been found. While such alerts can be useful in helping to locate missing children, they often tend to circulate for months or even years after the child has been located. This can cause ongoing problems for both the family of the child who was missing as well as law enforcement and missing person agencies who must field continuing enquiries about the - now resolved - case. Therefore, it is important to verify if a missing person alert is still current before reposting it to others.

If you receive a missing child alert about Kate Curry, please do not send it on to others. And please take the time to let the sender know that the child has now been found.
