ANY PET LOVERS LOOKING FOR TWO LABS?
We are moving in just 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I have still not been able to find a good home for Cookie and Coco . We ' re not able to take our beloved doggies with us and I ' ve been desperately trying to find a home for both of them ' together ' . They were raised together and pine without each other. The Lab rescue have already said that they would probably separate them, so this is my last resort. Recently I tried to take Coco out in my car alone and she TOTALLY refused to even get into the car without Cookie......!!!! She absolutely pulled back on her haunches until Cookie was by her side.
Both doggies are in great health, have been spayed and have ID chips implanted under the skin.
Cookie turned 3 December 10th and Coco turned 3 April 1st. Cookie is my mellow-yellow, and just loves her tummy rubbed. Coco is adorably funny and lives for her "ball." She also loves the water...... Cookie loves lots of attention. Both doggies are loyal and love to walk. They have been raised with my 3 kids running around all over the place, and have survived Sammy's constant hugging and love of ' dress-up ' , so they are fantastic family dogs.. This is by far one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, but under the circumstances I have no choice.
Please, please forward these pics to all your friends. I want to find a great home for these fabulous doggies. They are just adorable and it ' s heartbreaking to let them go. In a perfect world, I hope that we could find someone local so that we can still keep in touch and visit them. I pray that someone, somewhere can help us keep Cookie and Coco together, and love them just as much as we do. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. [Email address removed]
This forwarded email asks recipients to provide or help find a new home for Cookie and Coco, two 3 year old Labrador dogs. The message explains that Cookie and Coco's owners are moving and are unable to take their beloved dogs with them.
The information in the message was factual at the time it first began circulating in January, 2009. However, it is now outdated and redundant. A new home was found for Cookie and Coco in February 2009 and the pair are reportedly doing well.
A February 2009 entry on the South Bay Pets website notes
The tale of Cookie & Coco managed to spread far and wide over the past month, with some people wondering if it might be a hoax.
It was not.
Thanks for all the concern and interest. A couple has adopted the dogs and the original owner remains in touch with them. "They send me pictures all the time and have invited our kids to go hiking with them," the owner told Kristin Coronado of the Washington Post. "It's just been amazing."
The Washington Post's Kristin Coronado also blogged about the story
, confirming that the dogs have been rehoused. She notes that Cookie and Coco's Woodland Hills, California owner was obligated to give up the dogs due to a "series of personal misfortunes". After losing her house to foreclosure, the mother of three had little choice but to move to rented accommodation that did not allow large dogs.
Thus, the continued circulation of this email is now pointless. Unfortunately, emails such as this often tend to circulate for months or years after the animals featured in the messages have found new homes. A similar plea
to find new homes for 6 black Labrador puppies is still hitting inboxes, years after the dogs were reportedly given to new owners.
If you receive a version of the Cookie and Coco email, please take a moment to inform the sender that the dogs have now found a new home.
