'News' Report Claims Little Old Lady Arrested For Making Cat Fur Coats

According to a report that is being shared via social media, an 85-year-old woman in Waco, Texas has been arrested on suspicion of making fur coats out of neighbourhood cats.

The report claims that the woman was filmed kidnapping one of her neighbour's cats. Supposedly, suspicions were raised after cats in the area began disappearing and cat owners recognised their missing cat's fur in coats the woman was seen wearing.

Report is False - Comes From Fake-News Website World News Daily Report

However, the claims in the story are untrue. There are no credible news reports about such an arrest in Waco. In fact, the story was simply made up.

The image used in the story is taken from a February 2013 news report about a 75 year-old Atlanta woman who was arrested for possessing nine pounds of marijuana.

The false story comes from the fake-news website World News Daily Report. The site has been responsible for a series of nonsensical articles that have gone viral on social media, duping many users as they travel. Nothing published on the site should be taken seriously.

Always Verify Social Media 'News' Stories Before Sharing

Over the last few years, many new fake-news 'satirical' websites have emerged. Between them, they churn out and endless stream of nonsense, much of which circulates far and wide.

It is therefore wise to check any 'news' stories that come your way before you share them. You can usually quickly verify if a story is true by searching a news portal such as Google News.
