Commentary:
The information in this email is true. Twenty-year-old Matthew Leveson was reported missing from Cronulla, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, on 25th September 2007. According to information on a NSW Police website, Matthew was last seen in Cronulla on 23rd September.

A few days after his disappearance police located the man's car, a green 1999 Toyota Corolla Seca hatchback, abandoned nearby in Sutherland. Police now suspect that Matthew may have met with foul play and have appealed for public assistance on the case. Anyone with information about Matthew's disappearance or current whereabouts is urged to contact Miranda police on 9541 3899 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Matthew's family and friends have not given up on finding him alive and have distributed the above email in the hope that some recipients can offer information on the case.

Although the information in the email is factual, the person who created it has, perhaps inadvertently, used a paragraph (shown below) that also forms part of the infamous Penny Brown hoax and its long line of copy-cat hoax emails:
Maybe if everyone passes this on, someone will see him! That is how the girl from Stephens Point was found by circulation of her picture on TV. The Internet circulates everywhere even overseas.
Unfortunately, people familiar with these hoax emails may be inclined to dismiss the information about Matthew Leveson as untrue due to the inclusion of this paragraph. This is especially true since a spate of bogus missing teenager emails that use the same paragraph are also currently circulating.

If you have any information at all that could shed light on Matthew Leveson's disappearance, please contact police via one of the phone numbers listed above.
