Morgan Freeman Fake RIP Page

FOX News just got ahold of the news of Morgan Freeman , this is going viral .

RIP Morgan Freeman. He was an outstanding actor and narrator. I hope he knew God.

Detailed Analysis
In early August, 2012, rumours began inundating social media websites claiming that loved US actor Morgan Freeman had died. The rumours sprang from a "R.I.P Morgan Freeman" Facebook Page that falsely claimed that the actor had passed away due to an artery rupture. The initial Facebook Page quickly spawned other such pages and the false story spread to Twitter and other social media outlets along with various blogs and online forums.

However, the claims are untrue. Morgan Freeman is alive and well. The hoax is just one more in a series of celebrity death hoaxes that have recently plagued social networking sites. The fake R.I.P Pages are the work of disgraceful likewhores whose only goal is to amass likes and shares on Facebook. If you are directed to one of these nasty celebrity death hoax pages, do not like, share or comment on them. Liking sharing or commenting will only cater to the sick desires of the despicable individuals who create such pages.

This is not the first time that Morgan has been the target of such a hoax. In December 2010, Twitter was inundated with posts falsely claiming that the actor had "passed away at his Burbank home".

Before passing on a message - or "liking" a R.I.P Page - that claims that a celebrity or high-profile person has died, always take the time to verify the information via a credible source. A celebrity death is certain to gain the attention of the mainstream media, so even a quick search of a news outlet such as Google News should reveal if the celebrity has really died. If "news" of the celebrity's supposed demise is confined only to unconfirmed social media posts, and does not appear on any legitimate news or celebrity websites then it is a pretty safe bet that the death rumours are just more social media driven nonsense.
