Subject: Cards for Noah Biorkman
Diana Harrison Biorkman has a 5-yr old son in his last stages of a 2 1/2 year battle with Neuroblastoma cancer. They are celebrating Christmas next weekend and Noah loves Christmas cards.
Please take a minute to send a card.
This message, which circulated via email as well as blogs, online forums and social networking websites, asked recipients to send early Christmas cards to 5 year old Noah Biorkman, who was in the last stages of a battle with cancer. The card request was genuine. However, Noah has now passed away and it is no longer appropriate to send Christmas cards.
Noah, of South Lyon, in the American state of Michigan, was diagnosed with cancer in February 2007. He had neuroblastoma, a nervous system cancer that mostly affects children. Noah went into remission for a time, but relapsed in September 2008. Noah was not expected to make it to Christmas Day. Sadly, this diagnosis proved to be all to accurate as Noah passed away on November 23rd 2009. Before his death, Noah received early Christmas gifts from family and members of their local community along with a visit from Santa. He also received more than one million Christmas cards and many gifts after the above request began circulating.
In lieu of cards and flowers, the family is now requesting that donations be made in Noah's name to one of the organizations listed below:
