Detailed Analysis

Circulating Rumour Claims Norman Reedus Has Died

According to a rapidly spreading social media rumour, American actor Norman Reedus has died. Reedus plays the character Daryl Dixon in the popular zombie-themed TV series 'The Walking Dead'.

Some of the 'R.I.P.' messages claim that the actor was found dead in his home.

Claims are Untrue - Norman Reedus is Alive and Well

However, the claims are untrue. Norman Reedus is alive and well. Perhaps because of the nature of the show that he stars in, poor Norman has been killed off multiple times via an ongoing series of death hoaxes.  And the rumours tend to accelerate as Halloween approaches each year.

One current post about Norman's supposed death is actually just a poor-taste prank.  A link in the post opens a prank website that informs visitors that they have been 'owned' and invites them to create their own prank message and share it on social media.

Celebrity death hoaxes are very common.  Some versions contain links to malware websites or survey scams.

It is thus wise to verify any celebrity death claims that come your way before you share them and before you follow any links that they contain.
