Rupert Murdoch Condemned for Insensitive 'Congrats' Tweet
In the wake of the Sydney hostage siege, News Corp media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been roundly condemned for an insensitive tweet that he posted congratulating his Sydney news outlet the Daily Telegraph for reporting first on the siege's final bloody outcome.
On December 15, he posted the following message on his official Twitter feed:
AUST gets wake-call with Sydney terror. Only Daily Telegraph caught the bloody outcome at 2.00 am. Congrats.Given the horrific consequences of the siege - in which two innocent victims and the gunman died - his gloating, self-serving tone is unforgivably disrespectful and irksome to say the least.
The ill-conceived post has earned Murdoch a well-deserved storm of vitriol from Internet users.
