One of the best features of Thunderbird is the excellent built-in spam filter. The Junk Mail controls make handling spam very simple. The filter will "remember" this clarification next time and automatically deal with the spam message according to the user's chosen settings.


It offers support for multiple accounts, an excellent built in spell-checker, a number of ways to sort your mail and many more features. Another plus is that Thunderbird is a cross-platform application that is available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems.



Thunderbird has been very stable on both my Windows XP and my Windows 98 systems.
