Martin Lawrence is NOT Dead

Posts claiming that US comedian and actor Martin Lawrence has died are circulating vigorously via social media.

Many of the posts link back to a 'news' report published on website 'Elite Jamaica' that claims that Lawrence was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room. The same report was published in March 2015 on and has since been republished on a number of other websites. It appears that Elite Jamaica lifted the report from the earlier NewsBuzzDaily story.

According to the report, Lawrence had been dead in the room for several days and his body was only discovered after he failed to check out of the hotel as scheduled.

However, the rumours are untrue and the supposed news report is fake. Martin Lawrence is alive and well and has been active on social media well after the time of his supposed demise.

Martin made fun of the death hoax on Twitter by posting the following:

I'm coming back from the dead for an exclusive, LIVE video chat...
